Witness the tale of the birth of Jesus. During the rule of Herod many struggled to make ends meet and lived in constant fear of his power.  A young girl named Mary though has a different test to see just how strong her faith is. First promised as a wife to Joseph then visited by an angel to announce to her that she will be mother to the savior Mary’s life quickly changes. But she will not be the only one that finds their faith tested as her husband Joseph must understand Mary’s destiny. Traveling back to Joseph’s home land the two begin bonding just in time for the birth.

I was really looking forward to seeing this wonderful story and while inspiring I felt it was a little bit of a let down. The scenes are beautiful; but the story itself feels lukewarm. There are many moments where it appears to be dragging just to make the story last longer. The interaction between Mary and Joseph I felt to be genuine as they attempt to connect and understand each other. The DVD release though could have been a little better. Both the wide and full screen version of the movie are here but the special features are lacking having only the trailer and some DVD-Rom features. I would have personally liked to see a discussion on the Bible story or a talk with the director about making the movie. While not as moving as I would hope for the story of the birth of Christ; it can still be loved by your family for many years to come.
