A group of people in the small town of Jasper Alabama have spent the past six years making a zombie movie. They’re the furthest thing from professional filmmakers, but SyFy has agreed to air their film as a SyFy Original Movie if they can actually finish it. In the meantime, Town of the Living Dead is a reality series that documents the film’s progress and confirms the old saying of anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

Town of the Living Dead is Here Comes Honey Boo Boo meets Night of the Living Dead. Tina Teeter is the producer of the independent zombie film Thr33 Days Dead and has spent the majority of her money trying to get the film made over the past six years. The rest of the crew is made up of friends, family members, and neighbors; basically anyone they can find who wants to be a part of the movie. Naturally, things don’t run that smoothly.

Each episode focuses on a specific scene they’re filming that day, such as running over a zombie or blowing up a boat, and the numerous difficulties they encounter in doing so. It’s hilariously sad to watch, and you can’t help but wonder what the finished product is going to look like. Thankfully you do get a glimpse of the scene that the episode was about towards the end.

Town of the Living Dead is interesting enough to satisfy anyone’s reality TV itch. It’s not great television, but it’s one of those shows that you might watch while flipping through the channels. In one scene two guys go down to the local store and purchase an entire box of dynamite like it was just a normal thing you could do. It’s absolutely ridiculous. In the end though, it doesn’t matter all that much whether or not the film gets finished, because SyFy gets something out of it regardless.
