RATING: 2.62 (out of 4.00)

In the little town of Progress, North Carolina, a 10 year old girl, Tory Bodeen, was born with some psychic ability. Her father disapproves her special skill and compares her with the devil. Her best friend, Hope, waits for Tory to arrive in the middle of the woods for their imaginative adventure. Tory has been whipped up by her father and cannot meet Hope. In the meantime, Hope is murdered by someone.

18 years later Tory (Claire Forlani) comes back to her hometown. Hope’s murderer has not been caught, and the case is not forgotten by the locals and especially Hope’s wealthy family. Hope’s brother Cade (Oliver Hudson) is still there, just like everyone else still lives in Progress. Cade’s mother (Jacqueline Bisset) still believes that Tory’s father is the murderer. Hope’s sister, Faith (Josie Davis), is now a country singer, and her attitude towards Tory changes as the story goes on.

One night Hope visits Tory’s dream and warns her that the killer would attack again if Tory does use her psychic skill. The audience learns why Tory hesitates to help the police. Soon Tory discovers that there are more deaths of blonde and young girls, and all of them were killed on August 23rd - the day Hope was also murdered. There are more deaths since Tory’s arrival.

Carolina Moon is not too bad for a made-for-TV movie, but all relationships and personalities of people in this movie are predictable. The worst and most annoying character in this movie is definitely Faith (couldn’t it be more obvious name than Faith?!). She is as cheesy as any soap opera character. From her make-up to outfit, and even her sex scene was cheap. The worst moment is when Cade proposes Tory while she practices shooting a gun. The movie tries to catch some Southern charms, but it seems to be too much.

Nora Roberts is famous for romance novels; however, Carolina Moon definitely falls in the suspense/thriller genre. This DVD is definitely made for people enjoy Lifetime television network and Nora Roberts’ novels. If you try not to be too realistic, and not to think about logical explanations, then this is good entertainment. Well, my final words are that Carolina Moon left me with a big question - why people don’t close curtains or blinds when they have sex?!
