Concert Alert

If you can try to catch them live, their stage presence and energy is fantastic

While most of the youth is pining after vampires and/or crying to their emo music, the teens in Billy Boy On Poison are working on bringing back rock and better yet I’m not talking about that Nickelback shit that passes as rock right now. I am talking about that awesome, fun 70’s mono-rock sound with a touch of glam and a bit of punk rebellion. Simple, stripped down, untouched rock that is done for the love of music and not money and I love it!

I have an E.P. of theirs and keep it in a regular rotation of what I listen to while driving. I have been eagerly awaiting “Drama Junkie Queen”. At the same time I was a little hesitant because I have received E.P.s in the past & loved them but when I got the album in sure enough the only good songs were those as the rest were just fillers. Luckily for me Billy Boy On Poison delivered for their full length.  As the raspy, powerful, angst ridden voice backed by catchy guitar riffs and heavy drum beats come out of the speakers it is hard to believe that they are just teens. This is a style many have tried to pull off; but one that not many have been able to successfully do as of recent.

Still not quite sure what you are going to get? Well on their MySpace page they say they sound like “hot, wild, abusive, dirty, hair pullin, ass spankin’, pillow bitin, moanin, groanin, howling sex”. For me I always have images of smoky bars & pool halls, spandex, eyeliner, energetic crowds, and the feeling of dangerous yet somehow innocent fun. If somehow I could have a house-band this is one of the few bands I would want. They are a gem in an industry that has been struggling to produce anything of quality in the rock genre.
