Chris Ballew returns for his fourth album as kids singer Caspar Babypants with Sing Along! Included on this adventure are special musical guests like Weird Al Yankovic, Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam, and more. While I enjoyed CB’s last release I have to say that this album is now my favorite. It hardly skips a beat and its replay potential seems almost endless.

As I threw on this album for the first time I was impressed. It’s a laid back kids album that has great harmony, a silliness that’s just good enough for the kids but not so silly I feel like a bit of a nerd listening to it alone. As usual Ballew’s musical know how makes the album sound great and his special guests really add flavor. Weird Al does some vocal work as well as accordion, there’s a duet between Ballew and Frances England as well as a track on the album that was written by a 6 year old and given the musical treatment by CB. All in all it’s a solid effort. The only song on the album that I would have preferred was a hidden track or possibly scrapped would be Loud and Quiet, a repetitive number that doesn’t seem to have the same flow as the rest of the album and sounds too babyish. I know, I know. The album is for ages 0-6 but it seems like such a sore spot on an otherwise flawless album. As always final judgment is yours. Enjoy.
