![]() Artist: Freeway & Jake One Album: The Stimulus Package Genre: Rap/Hip Hop Label: Rhymesayers Tracks: 15 Type: LP Release Date: February 15, 2010 Rating: () Grade: C- Freeway and Jake One's The Stimulus Package is named rightfully so because their goal seems to be to give real music for the people. In some sense, you would assume he thinks that since we are in a recession than of course we must be in a music recession. So Freeway had to give the true hip hop fans real music to relieve that music slump. It's a far stretch from the current commercial hip hop you hear on the airwaves today. My take, it targets those who are still fans of rappers being articulate with their metaphors; an overall wordsmith. The entire CD is basically filled with 80's throwback samples. Kind of like, Hip Hop in the early 90's. There are features from old-time label mates Beanie Sigel, Young Guns and a few others from the Rocafella family. So, if you are into the original era of New York Hip Hop, with the classic sound of 80's throwbacks, R&B hooks and lyrically complex metaphors, than this would be the album for you. If you are looking for the Soulja Boy Tell Em type music that is currently hogging commercial Hip Hop airtime, you will be disappointed. |
