Artist: Kill Paradise Album: The Second Effect Members: Nick Cocozzella & Bryce Hoops Genre: Pop Label: Break Silence Tracks: 11 Type: LP Release Date: November 10, 2009 Discs: 1 Rating: () Grade: C- Kill Paradise is made up of Nick Cocozzella & Bryce Hoops, a pop dance duo whose newest album might very well only be useful at a middle school dance or as a soundtrack to a twelve year olds life. Mind you its not terrible it just doesn’t have any weight. Composed of a combination of personalized lyrics and party anthems The Second Effect wasn’t built for mileage. 11 tracks spans this homage to innocent all ages dance parties leaning heavily on what I assume is the power of autotune. Why artists believe that singing like a half robot is anything less then a distraction is beyond me. Its apparent that Cocozzella is not the strongest of singers but to try and mask it with this horrible voice effect only makes it stand out more. As for the beats on the album, well, I found myself wondering if these guys were inspired by Lady Gaga or Hellogoodbye and if so is imitation, I mean this much imitation, really flattering or just kind of sad? If your going to throw something on because you want to dance around your living room, kitchen, or bedroom there would be nothing better then The Second Effect which is all entertainment without real substance other then a few stand out tracks like RCNK REMIX which, even though its lyrically narrative, might be the most hankered down track using the horrible voice effect. You get what you pay for and what your paying for is a soundtrack to your dance and nothing more. Vocally its to “cute” and musically its nothing we haven’t seen or heard before. As always check them out for yourselves at the links provided.
