Artist: Martyn Album: Fabric 50 Genre: DJ/Dance Label: Fabric London Tracks: 26 Type: LP Release Date: January 26, 2010 Rating: ( )Grade: D+ Fabric welcomes in the new year with its 50th album composed by DJ Martyn. What makes this album different from the 50+ others out there is that Martyn goes for the live release, meaning that the CD is exactly like he were playing it in person. The songs themselves are pretty varied but once you get into them, it all begins to sound alike. You hear the first 30 seconds of a track and you've basically heard it all. The techno/electronic is heavy on all the bells and whistles that are found as options on a keyboard. Space themes, random squeaking; it's all there. If this is your kind of stuff, then by all means, go for it. For the typical music enthusiast though, there's not much substance. The flow from one track to another is great but that's about it. You can only handle so much of Fabric 50 at a time. What lasts a little over an hour can be summed up in about 15 minutes. |
