Artist: One-Eyed Doll Album: Break Members: Kimberly Freeman, Number Three, Junior Tracks: 12 Type: LP Release Date: March 30, 2010 Rating: ( )Grade: A- Kimberly Freeman is the leading member for the band One-Eyed Doll. She does all the vocals and wrote all the songs for their latest album, Break. That's a lot of pressure to have on one person's shoulders but she manages to pull through and create an album that will rock your world. The music starts out somewhat slow but then builds in rhythm and speed. Part modern punk, part grunge rock, One-Eyed Doll manages to bring the best of both worlds into one setlist. Sometimes I wonder though, perhaps there is too much variety to Break. For some reason, there appears to be a country-esque song thrown into the mix; "Redneck Love Song." While not absolutely horrible, it does feel random and out of place. Freeman should stick to what she does best and that's sing with attitude. What I like about Break is the fact that it's simple in nature. There are no extremely harsh sounds or inaudible lyrics. For the most part, everything is kept to guitar, drums, and bass. The album will ease you in and then keep you entertain the whole way through, ending with one of the strongest songs on the album, "Resurrection." Definitely check One-Eyed Doll out if you haven't already. It's well worth a look. |
