Are you read to thrash and do some major headbanging? Well, if not then you better get off that couch and get ready because Slayer will make you want to start screaming and pounding the steering wheel with their new CD World Painted Blood. If you’re not familiar with Slayer they are a heavy metal, thrash, def jam band that has been around since the early 1980’s. Slayer was one of the metal bands that stood out from the rest because they wasn’t playing radio songs or played what seemed to be popular at the moment.

With World Painted Blood they have continued with playing the metal to it’s fullest. That is the songs are powerful and full of so much energy that it’s as if these guys were an overcharged battery. How the vocals on Tom Araya can stay at a even level and tone with the volume he sings at is powerful and overwhelming. One thing though is that the songs are not for the weak at hear or timid. Slayer has put into their songs strong material that with some might be shocking but then again most listening to World Painted Blood already know Slayer and know what to expect.

A down side to World Painted Blood is that if you are just wanting to have a relaxing song or one song that’s is good for background music then this is not the CD for that. Ok, another downside but also a plus is the lyrics are not for every situation. They are strong and explicit enough that the songs wouldn’t fit in while carpooling the kids or having on the radio at work.

Now with the bad out of the way the speed at which the instruments is astounding. Well, it’s not the speed itself that’s good, there’re a lot bands that can play at fast rates but to be able to play them where it’s good and fun to listen is what makes Slayer good. Slayer can be considered a comeback band with World Painted Blood but considering that their last album was on 3 years ago it’s safe to say that Slayer is just one of those bands that plays good enough  to still be able to produce new songs. Considering that Slayer has been around for over 20 years and they can still produce an album like World Painted Blood is good in it's own right but having the songs back up the years is what has made them be around for those years.
