The Jim Ivins Band hail from Richmond, Virginia and the band formed in 2007. “Everything we Wanted’ is the follow up to their self-titled debut album that was released in 2009. They are a very talented group that masterfully mixes pop, rock, and acoustics into the perfect package on each song. Their influences include Oasis, Third Eye Blind, and The Goo Goo Dolls, which is clearly evident based on their uptempo 90’s alternative sound they produce on this EP.

This EP brought me back to my teenage years because The Jim Ivins Band sounded just as good, if not better, than the alternative, pop, rock, and acoustic 90’s bands I grew up listening too. The instrumentals on the whole EP were properly varied and impressive to listen to. The vocals had a lot of range and they were pitch perfect for their unique sound. Lastly, the lyrics were very emotional and well written. Each song was easily relatable and could be interpreted personally because they were so deep.

I loved all of the songs on the EP. My favorite songs were “Run” and “The sight of Fire” because of their 90’s vibe and both would fit perfectly on the radio. Also, they sounded great because both songs are unlike anything in mainstream music currently. I can listen to this EP over and over again. By the end of EP all I could say was ‘WOW!” I highly recommend this EP and The Jim Ivins Band to everyone and I cannot wait for their next album releases. For those reasons, I am giving this EP an “A.”
