Artist: The Whip Album: X Marks Destination Members: Danny Saville, Lil Fee, Nathan Sudders, Bruce Carter Label: Razor & Tie Tracks: 14 Type: LP Release Date: March 3, 2009 Rating: () Grade: A A little bit techno, a little bit rock, The Whip blends the two genres together to create something that brings the best of both worlds.Their debut album, X Marks Destination, clearly makes an impression. The music presented definitely feels like you're listening to dance or techno. It's upbeat and contains lots of loops, with some excellent use of drums and synthesizers. There are some songs that are purely instrumental in the traditional techno sense. The lyrics are alright. On ocassion, some don't make much sense but for the most part they bring rock to the techno genre. In addition to the normal tracks, there are four bonus remixes. These rely heavily on techno and while not better then the originals, they are fun to listen to. i would definitely recommend The Whip to anyone interested in hearing something unique and different. |
