The funniest movie about a corporation knowingly poisoning people in a small town that you'll ever see, Erin Brockovich is based on the true story of Erin Brockovich and her fight against PG&E.

Julia Roberts gives an Oscar winning performance as Erin, a twice divorced mother of three, who is struggling to find work and keep food on the table for her kids. A series of events leads to her working in the law offices of Edward Masry, where she stumbles on a pro bono real estate case that inexplicably contains medical files. Pursuing the reason those files would be included in that case, she discovers that PG&E, a large power company, is trying to cover up having leaked chemicals into the local ground water. The rest of the film is a colorful David and Goliath tale as Erin swears her way through the legal system to win one for the people.

It's a great film, but why review it now, twelve years after it hit theaters and nearly as long since it has been on DVD? It even came out on Blu-ray four years ago. But Universal Studios is celebrating their 100th Anniversary of making movies by re-releasing their greatest films, digitally remastered for HDTVs, and Erin Brockovich is one of them. The picture and sound quality on this are fantastic, and if you have an old copy of the movie and a new home theater, it's worth upgrading. The only disappointment I have with the release is that there are no new extras. It features the same deleted scenes and behind the scenes bonuses that were on the DVD released in 2000.

So, my A rating is for the movie and the remastering, but I only give the extras a B.
