Title: Frost Nixon Genre: Drama Starring: Frank Langella, Michael Sheen, Sam Rockwell, Kevin Bacon, Matthew Macfadyen Director: Ron Howard Studio: Universal Runtime: 123 Minutes Release Date: April 21, 2009 Format: BLU-RAY MPAA Rating: Rating: () Grade: C+ OOPS! Director Ron Howard admitted voting for Richard Nixon in the 1972-election. Sure it was nominated for 5 Oscars (including Best Picture) and it has strong pedigree behind it like Frank Langella, Kevin Bacon, Sam Rockwell and Director Ron Howard. But, what does that all really mean for a movie based around an interview? Sure, it was one hell of an interview and, yes, it can be argued that it changed political interviews from fluff to accountability, but it is still..an interview. QUALITY: BONUS FEATURES: The commentary is a bit amusing and, with Ron Howard's normal tongue-in-cheekiness, you wonder how such a and befuddled and somewhat soft-spoken person can churn out some of our generations finest films. It is a shame that the entire original interview couldn't be included (instead of a link to a website - www.frostnixon.com - that houses the original). The picture quality is a let down and, although the sound on this dialogue heavy movie is great, it isn't enough to save the quality as a whole. |
