Dick Harper (Jim Carrey) is promoted to a Vice President of Communications at Globodyne Corporation, a monstrous company that employs over 6,000 people.  The day he is promoted, he is asked to go on the MoneyLife television show where he is unknowingly made the fall guy for an Enron-type conspiracy with the CFO Frank Bascombe (Richard Jenkins) and CEO Jack McCallister (Alec Baldwin).  Back at home Harper’s wife Jane (Tea Leoni), assuming the windfall of the promotion, quits her job.

After the fall of Globodyne, Harper struggles for months trying to find a job, getting fired from simple grocery store jobs and getting deported as an illegal immigrant.  When a notice of eviction arrives in their mailbox, Dick & Jane are at their last resort and turn to a life of crime, hilariously robbing everywhere from homes to coffee shops.

As far as remakes go, this is one of the better ones.  Jim Carrey is at his dimmed down best and has definitely shown growth looking back at movies like Dumb & Dumber.  The usually annoying Tea Leoni (in my opinion) is actually great in this role and should probably consider sticking to mature comedy in her future instead of attempting to actually act.  Clocking in at a sometimes too swift 90 minutes, Fun With Dick and Jane is one of the best comedies of the slow 2005 year and is the answer to comedy fans looking for less low-brow humor than The 40 Year Old Virgin.  Aside from the movie itself, the special features are surprisingly excellent.  The Gag Reel is hilarious, as is the norm on Jim Carrey movies and every deleted scene could have actually seamlessly been cut back into the movie and would have added to the hilarity.
