Title: Garfield As Himself Genre: Animation, Family, Kids Starring: Lorenzo Music, Sandy Kenyon, Henry Corden Director: John Sparey Studio: 20th Century Fox Runtime: 73 minutes Release Date: June 29, 2004 Format: DVD Discs: 1 MPAA Rating: Rating: () Grade: C+ I’ll start right out by saying that I am extremely biased when it comes to Garfield. I love him, have since I was a child. Which, is why I cringe every time I see that computer animated piece of crap running around passing itself off as Garfield on the big screen these days. But, I do have to give it some credit. If it weren’t for the new movie, we would probably never see this DVD of the upcoming Garfield & Friends 3-disc set. So, at least it’s good for something. Anyway, enough ranting. Those of you expecting the “Garfield & Friends” version we all love, you better wait for the 3-disc set. This is early Garfield. Lame jokes, corny out of place musical numbers and even a much different, surprisingly fatter, Garfield. The cheesiness and parent-friendly comedy aside, Garfield As Himself, comprised of three 24-minute specials, is a fun watch and definitely worth ten bucks for the fans aching for their old, original, fat cat. |
