Title: Goodnight for Justice: The Measure of a Man Genre: Western Starring: Luke Perry, Cameron Bright, Stefanie Von Pfetten, Teach Grant Director: K. T. Donaldson Studio: Entertainment One Runtime: 86 minutes Release Date: April 10, 2012 Format: DVD Discs: 1 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: C+ Not since the last Goodnight for Justice has there been a movie like Goodnight for Justice: The Measure of a Man. A solid western like the first, generally good but bordering on dull, perfect for family watching. They Say: Luke Perry returns to the lawless frontier, starring as Circuit Judge John Goodnight, a man hell-bent on seeing justice served. Traveling alone through the Western Territories, Goodnight finds himself reunited with the Beautiful Callie Bluepoint in a dusty town terrorized by Deke Spradling and his gang of outlaws. When Callie reveals a long-kept secret about one of the bandits, Goodnight faces a crisis of conscience and becomes more determined than ever to put the Spradling gang behind bars and set the record striaght. I Say: Like the first film, this is a by the numbers western. The heroes and villains are clearly defined and you always know who to root for. It does lack in action and the movie contains a large amount of talking, but it only goes to stress that as a man of the law violence is a last resort. Beyond that, there isn't much to say about it. It's well acted and directed, and not unpleasant to watch. The DVD contains extras in the form of four interviews with the main cast - Luke Perry, Cameron Bright, Stefanie Von Pfetten, and Teach Grant - and runs about a half an hour. Interesting but unnecessary is the best way to describe them. Goodnight for Justice: The Measure of a Man is worth watching, but maybe not running out to buy. |
