Based on two books by Colin Clark and depicting the making of The Prince and the Showgirl, My Week with Marilyn is an utter delight to watch.

Fresh out of university, Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) heads to London to get a job on Laurence Olivier's (Kenneth Branagh) next production. Hired as the Third Assistant Director, essentially a glorified gopher, Colin's first job is to find a house for Ms. Monroe (Michelle Williams) and her new husband Arthur Miller to stay in while she works on the film. While at first it appears he fails after the press learns where she will be staying, Colin reveals he expected that and actually booked two homes, the second with a far more discrete owner, thus securing lodging for the star and throwing the tabloids off the trail.

When Marilyn arrives she befriends young Colin, and Colin falls for her, desiring to rescue her from the pressures of fame. Throughout the film we get a glimpse of Marilyn's troubled life and the demons she battled and the talent she possessed.

Watching Michelle Williams embody Marilyn, it is clear why she was nominated for so many awards and won quite a few of them too. And the supporting cast is so incredibly strong, there isn't a weak performance delivered.

The Blu-ray presents the film is crystal clarity with impeccable sound, and includes a Making Of featurette, "The Untold Story of an American Icon". But the real gem is the full length commentary by director Simon Curtis. He provides a lot of insight into the making of scenes and the production taking place at the same studio used to make The Prince and the Showgirl.

My Week with Marilyn is a very good film by itself, but the extras make this Blu-ray a must buy.
