Title: Slumdog Millionaire Starring: Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Rajendranath Zutshi Director: Danny Boyle Studio: 20th Century Fox Runtime: 121 Minutes Release Date: March 31, 2009 Format: BLU-RAY Discs: 2 Notes: Includes Digital Copy MPAA Rating: Rating: () Grade: A GOOD COMPANY This is the first film since Schindler's List (1993) to win Best Picture, Director and Screenplay at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs and the Oscars The movie that slowly took the country by storm finally arrives on DVD. The movie had a struggle to get where it did. First, the movie began to lose funding from Warner Bros. and risked going straight to DVD before Fox Searchlight came in to add additional money. When that happened, they pushed to to film festivals and slow rollout, eventually leading to a very unexpected 8 Oscars including Best Picture. QUALITY: BONUS FEATURES: After all of the bad publicity surrounding the kids from the movie returning to their native Mumbai to poluted streets and unsafe parents, you would think that a PSA on Mumbai or a short docu would have been included but, instead, mostly useless features are included, save for the short film "Manjha". The picture and sound quality are definetely something to envy and the digital copy is always worth a few points. Certaily worth the purchase for the countless fans of this unexpected winner. |
