and convince the police to waive the 24 hour waiting period to file a missing persons report. John, a retired FBI profiler is working on a book of serial killers that were never caught, sees a connection between Emily’s disappearance and a serial killer that resurfaces every seven years. They now have five days to find Emily and her kidnapper or the family will lose another member.

This is the first book I have read by Kate Pepper and it won’t be the last. The basic plot is easy to relate to as it could have been taken from any headlines out there today “Mother disappears from local shopping center”. The story will have you quickly turning pages to find out what will happen next and as the five days come to an end you may find yourself biting a few nails. The story is pretty fast paced which is always great for a thriller and is packed with suspense.

The characters are likable, captivating, and may leave you wanting to know more about them. Pepper is also not afraid to through a few twists in so keep an eye out for red herrings. The end has a little bit of a ‘80’s action flick feel to it; but other than that this is a riveting story. I will certainly be picking up other books by Kate Pepper.
