Jazz and electronica; something I don’t think I’ve heard before. The combination of these two could produce something interesting as it has potential to be great…if done in the right way...

RATING: 2.70 (out of 4.00)

Global Noize is just what the name suggests. It’s more of a bunch of noise from around the globe, at least in the beginning. There are a variety of instruments used, including some that are culturally specific. There were times where you could tell the music sounded African or Egyptian, etc. The problem arises with the whole jazz and electronica mix. It’s not really a mix, more of a playing of the two genres at the same time. The two rarely flow well together and many of the songs are strictly either jazz or electronica.

With that said, there were still a few songs that were decent. The jazz was a little faster paced and the wide variety of instruments provided a nice blend of music. As the album progressed, things did get better. It almost appeared as if the whole electronica genre was dropped as songs started sounding purely jazz. Overall, I was neither impressed nor disappointed with Global Noize.
