Armed groups meanwhile travel into the abandoned areas to gather food, medicine, and other supplies. One night while out on a run they realize that the zombies are starting to gain intelligence; but the head boss of the city will hear none of that, until it is too late and the zombies start to take over.
While zombie films have been pumped out lately everyone had high hopes for George Romero’s movie. Sadly many fans were greatly disappointed. The zombies with their new found intelligence, organization skills, and ability to operate guns loses and disgusts many that are fond of the mindless masses wandering around. But the zombies are not the only thing wrong with this film. The plot is sub-par at best with many holes in it for example someone playing with a hand held game. This lack of consistency with the other Romero flicks will have fans holding their heads in pain. The DVD’s are packed though with bonus features like the making of, taking a tour with John Leguizamo for a full day of filming, deleted scenes, commentary with Romero, a look at the actors from Shaun of the Dead when they have their cameos, the makeup artist, a montage of scenes from the movie put to music, a look at the CGI, a comparison of storyboards to the movie, and a look at the zombies both real life and CGI. It is a shame that they put that much work into the release; but not the movie itself.
