RATING: 0.81 (out of 4.00)

for the day, check my voicemail, and then I go through my mail. Rarely do I ever get a review copy sent directly to me unless I request it and that is generally for two reasons. One it usually gets sent to our music or movie director or they have read some of my reviews and don’t want me touching it. So when I came across a package to me that had a c.d. in it I was curious. I took out Hate by Lies and immediately put it into my stereo. “Wow” I thought to myself, “they must have never read one of my reviews”. Blaring out of the speakers came this singing that the best way I can describe it is words are said in the pattern of a clock ticking. You know tic pause tock pause. It is very mind numbing.

I continued to listen until the c.d. came to an end and ever song had that pattern. Also the lyrics are equivalent to 2nd grade poetry. Every single word is simply rhymed; man to can, hat to cat. Come on you can do better than that, besides songs do NOT have to rhyme everything. On top of that they also sing very badly out of tune trying to reach some high notes that should be left alone, and then their angry yelling really seems like they are just trying too hard. The instruments weren’t too bad, there were times where you could hear an almost Primus sound and they were heavy and fast. But I just could not buy into their “anger” when all I could think about when I heard their lyrics was a childhood nursery rhyme book. I will say this though by the end of the disk my head was unconsciously bobbing due to the singing (this was not a good thing). One person in my office even walked by and asked what I was listening to, when I replied they laughed and said they thought it was a joke because it sounded like “Berserker” from Clerks. Sadly I had to say no it wasn’t a joke; but then I had to smile a little because it has been awhile since I was able to add anything to Pandora’s Box.
