RATING: 1.80 (out of 4.00)

Every band has a right to tinker around with their sound and try something new to keep from getting bored; but this often ends up alienating their fans. “Minutes To Midnight” might do just that. Gone is the rap/rock portion that many have come to love from Linkin Park. In its place you get some heavy drums & guitars that resemble perhaps metal. And the vocals? Well at times, and this kills me, they reach a fine line from angry to almost dare I say screamo/emo.

The fact is I am a huge Linkin Park fan and listening to this album I grew bored, was in shock, and at times felt let down. There are 12 tracks (1 is an instrumental & 1 is only a little over 2 minutes) and there is only about 2 ˝ songs worth of good material. I even gave it 2 listens to see if it would grow on me; but still I was unimpressed. The songs are polished, the sound is tight, and if this was some new bands first release it could be good. However Linkin Park is more talented than this.
