Whether it is positive or negative, having seen the TV version, character features like hair or eye color are no longer subject to imagination. Also, when I read a Naruto manga now, I hear certain voices. That’s the problem and benefit of knowing both the TV version and the original manga series. However, there are several different appeals between the manga and the TV series.

Volume 30 has loads of action, and the highlight is the battle between Sakura and Sasori. The first distinctive difference that I noticed in the manga version was the drawing style. Comparing it to the TV series, the comic seems to have more appeal to older readers. It may simply be due to the black and white drawings, less dialogues, and more battle scenes in this volume. Additionally, as the story progresses, it seems to become more and more serious.

This volume ends just like many other Shonen-Jump series, it leaves you with suspense and curiosity. Kishimoto is no exception, cleverly making readers wonder how the story is going to play out in the next volume. For an impatient reader like me, a several-week break could be like torture, but it does not prevent me from giving up the series yet. If you enjoy a long running action-packed manga, this is a good choice, but if you have never read any Naruto book, this volume is the wrong place to start.
