Among other things, we get the story of a time in which the government
has forced people to choose to either live in the daytime or
nighttime, and the favorite pastime of “night-timers” is buying junk
cars and “tagging” other cars that are also part of the game known as
party crashing. In the end, Rant is a book which will leave you
thinking about government, popular culture, and relationships as well
as other topics that shall remain unnamed to avoid spoilers.
Rant starts off slow, but if you can make it through the first fifty
pages you will become engrossed in the bizarre life of a boy who
spends his free time getting bit by random animals for a high and has
slept around with half the town. Throughout the book, you will most
likely find yourself guessing how the book will end, but I can almost
guarantee you will be wrong. As an example of how strange this book
is, I guessed Rant would end as a zombie story, but I was way off.
This book is very good and well thought out. I would recommend it to
anyone who likes anything science fiction. It starts off slow due to
the many characters’ perspectives, but once it picks up speed it is
much better. It will also make you think about a lot of various topics
throughout the book.
