Anyway Super Dragonball Z was a game I was looking forward too. Not sure why since I have been burned by a couple of the past Dragonball games; but I am a fan of the show so I keep trying them out. After playing this one I quickly realized that “Super” should not be tagged on to the front of the title. This is pretty much the same the others have been. You get almost the same exact boards, same exact characters, same exact moves, and the same exact choices. There is survivor mode, versus mode, training mode, original mode (you defeat enemies while looking for dragonballs), and dragon summoning (when you have all dragonballs make a wish). So pretty much all the same stuff. The name should be changed to Same Dragonball Z.
Now while being the same isn’t that horrible (and it isn’t that great) here is what gets me. For all the Dragonball games released they keep changing what the moves are. Now you can chalk it up to me being older (26 years old) and my mind playing tricks on me; but when I start playing my hands immediately go to punching in moves from the past games. Why? BECAUSE IT LOOKS THE SAME. I think I am playing another version. There are a few tiny new things added to the game; but does that really matter? But I said I would keep my review short so here is the overall opinion. This is just another item released in order to make money off of the loyal fans of Dragonball Z. I would not pay full price for this, hell I wouldn’t even buy it; but if you want it because you are a fan look for it at one of those used game stores.
