With Season of the Witch being mediocre at best, Nicolas Cage hasn't exactly been off to the best start for 2011. Drive Angry puts Cage in the driver's seat and takes him on a trip out of Hell as he attempts to rescue his granddaughter from being sacrificed by this crazy Satanist cult leader. Seriously, that's the actual story.

Milton (Cage) died years ago and for his crimes, was sent to Hell where he was forced to watch his loved ones suffer in the real world. Finally, when he can't take the pain any longer, he breaks out and goes on a man hunt to find the cult responsible for his daughter's death and save her child from the same fate. Don't let his name fool you; he's a man on a mission and nothing is going to get in his way.

Since, he's already dead. Milton can't be killed, at least by any earthly means. Doing it alone though is still going to be difficult. Thankfully, he has the tough-as-nails Piper (Amber Heard) helping him out. While she may look all innocent and sweet, deep down she can be a real badass.

Breaking out of Hell isn't exactly easy, and there are bound to be consequences. Hot on the trails of Milton is this mysterious man only known as "The Accountant" (William Fichtner). It's his job to find Milton and bring him back to the depths of the underworld. Fichtner puts on a wonderful performance that is both hilarious and frightening at the same time. He has no respect for the human race, and it shows in the way he nonchalantly interrogates people or when he randomly spouts out these humorous one-liners. Stealing the spotlight from Cage whenever he's only screen, Fichtner is the definition of what this movie is all about.

Drive Angry is a film that doesn't take itself seriously and neither should you. It's a B-movie with a plot that isn't the greatest or acting that's mind-blowing. That's not why you see Drive Angry. It's purely for entertainment purposes and is so absolutely ridiculous it's funny. Imagine watching a guy have sex with a waitress and then proceed to kill a group of cult members without missing a thrust. That's how crazy this film is.

Don't go into the theater expecting a masterpiece or something serious. If you do, you'll no doubt be disappointed. All you have to do is sit back, relax, and let all the action, humor, and over the top bloodshed seep in. Just take a chance with Drive Angry; you won't regret it. It's one hell of a ride!
