I have not read the original but I checked out the information for it. They have the same number of pages and the table of contents match up. I feel pretty comfortable saying that if you already own it this is not a re-buy. But for The Doors fans out there that do not have it this is a must have. Not convinced? Well here is a little about the book.

The bulk of the book is lyrics to The Doors songs and of lyrics to “An American Prayer” Jim Morrison’s spoken word album. With the lyrics there is black and white photo after black and white photo and one section of colored photos of the band. This alone would be something that a Doors fan could die for. But there is even more to love about it.

It starts off with an intro by Danny Sugerman talking about The Doors and things he saw. The mixed throughout are other interviews and articles about the band. There is “Perceiving The Doors” by Paul Nelson which was originally printed in “We Are The Doors” songbook, “Rock Is Rock: A Discussion Of A Doors Song” and interview of Paul Rothchild featured in Crawdaddy Magazine, “Stage Doors” by Harvey Perr from the L.A. Free Press, “Four Doors To The Future” by John Stickney from the Williams College News, and finally an intro to “An American Prayer”. This is essential for Doors fans; but re-releasing it and keeping everything the same is not.
