The book is about a 32 year old woman named Laurel Hawthorne and about the relationship between Laurel and her sister and the hidden secrets in their childhood. Laurel is a wife and the mother of a 13 year old daughter. The author shows you Laurel’s perfect life; her house, her husband, and their daughter. Then as the story unfolds you begin to see the dirty secrets of Laurel’s neighbors and friends. The façade begins to crumble not only for the people around Laurel but Laurel herself.

When Laurel was a child she was regularly visited by her dead uncle Marty's ghost but after she moved out of her parents’ house the visits stopped. But the night her daughter's friend Molly drowned in her pool she began seeing Molly's ghost. Even though the police have declared the death an accident Laurel feels there is something bigger going on, something that her daughter may be involved in. Laurel goes to her sister for help and the story begins.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was well written and kept my attention from start to finish. The main character Laurel was easy to identify with and really surprises you throughout the book. This story takes place over several days and even in that short amount of time you grew very quickly to like and feel for Laurel and her family. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes to read mystery novels. This book is a mystery book it is not scary so would been fine for your teens.
