WHAT SEASON?

Though the box set says Set 1 the shows are not from season one. In fact they are from season 2 and 3.

There are a lot of thriller and mystery shows out in the television world with the majority of them not being too much of a thrill or a mystery. In this 4 volume set of the show Armchair Thriller there is both the thriller and the mystery part and it's done really well. The set holds 4 different thrillers that are each different. Plot lines are different but the underlying theme to the stories are these thrillers that seem to happen to a normal person living out their lives. Sounds like most thrillers but there's a big difference in this one and the others, the acting.

What makes me not like most thriller/mystery shows that are made is that the acting is always over the top. Someone sees a murder take place so they go tell the police and what does the police do? Laugh and say that the person must be just seeing things or they are crazy so go away. Ok, so this kind of happens in these as well but there was a slight difference and that was even with the laughing they stopped for a minute to think, what if this was real. But still the character have a more realistic feel to them that makes the shows fun to watch.

The 4 stories on here are "Dying Day where a lonely man's quest to save his life may cost him his sanity." This one stars Ian McKellen as Anthony Skipling who is a man that is an introvert and he likes it. It's easy to see why this man is the way he is considering that he is an unextraordinary person that goes unnoticed. The second story is "The Limbo Connection, a wife vanishes without a trace, leaving her despairing husband to put together the pieces." On this one it was more of a mystery than a thriller but the thrills was not lacking any during the show. Though it's not a first time that the plot was a loved one goes missing and everyone just thinks that's because they became tired of their life and left. In this one the acting is done really well making this old story plot interesting. With the third show, "Rachel In Danger, an innocent girl sets off to meet the father she never knew but falls into the hands of a terrorist." What would happen if a child was going to meet a parent that they have never seen before but add in that she is put into a situation that is very bad and she don't know it? What you would get is this show. By the middle of the show I was feeling bad for the little girl and by the end of it, well you watch it to get your own feelings. Regardless, the story was well made and well acted and though it wasn't much of a mystery it was a thriller, in a sense. I wasn't sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what big action scene was going to happen or if someone was going to die but I was sitting there wondering what was going to be the next move. Lastly, "The Victim, a wealthy industrialist embarks on a determined hunt for his kidnapped daughter." Both mystery and thriller is what makes this show good. Here a man has his daughter taken from him but he thinks he knows who has done it and wants no help from the police. Though again nothing new but with the performance the actors give makes this show interesting and fun to watch.

All 4 of the shows are fun to watch because the performance from the actors is done so well. The downside to these shows is that sometimes they could drag on for a little while. Where one of the shows is two and half hours long had me pausing it so I could get up and just take a break from it. But the upside to these shows is that they are broken into parts. So that pausing I was doing really wasn't needed because they are in separate parts that can be watched as a whole and then stopped without stopping it in the middle of the show. They are also British actors with the British accent and for some reason for me that added to the mystery and the fun of the show. Overall, these 4 shows were really good, I got enjoyment from watching them, and they were actually a good mystery and thriller that kept me guessing which was well worth the watch for me. If you are one that likes British shows, mysteries, and thrillers than this will be a really good DVD set to watch.
