Death Note Rewritten with the Japanese Cast & Crew, Original Japanese Promos

The story of L, Light, and the Death Note came to a close; but did we see everything there was too see? This release is supposed to give us a different perspective on the whole ordeal as Ryuk sits down and tells his tale.

It pains me so much to have to write this review. In fact I really wish I hadn’t asked (alright demanded) that I was the one to get to review it. The first time I saw anything “Death Note” was when I watched the live action movie for review, from there I quickly became obsessed and got my hands on every anime DVD released, and made it clear that I wanted to review anything “Death Note” that came in. In this case it bit me in the ass.

I was looking forward to new animation and things that happened in the story that we didn’t get to see such as what Ryuk was up to while Light denounced the Death Note and sat in a cell. Instead what I got was the same exact footage I have seen before. In fact it’s even worse than that, they chop the story up and basically give you a quick summary of the anime. In the 130 minutes you go from the very beginning to the demise of L, yeah it’s that fast. I already have all the DVD’s, I’ve already watched the whole story, what I do not need is someone to butcher it, condense it, and then trick me into buying it again.

To be fair there are a few new things added in, a few new scenes. But one of the biggest scenes added in completely changes how L and Light meet. I am still very partial to the original meeting at school, as L watches Light’s every move and Light dissects why L would have introduced himself. Others didn’t really stand out that much at all, and very well could have possibly been ideas that they were originally going to add into the anime; but later changed their minds.

I think I might have possibly been able to handle the hack job they did on the anime better if they made sure to keep all the scenes that Ryuk was in and the stuff that he knew what was going on. But no. Even the scenes where Ryuk was some stuff doesn’t make sense. Why can we hear Light’s inner monologues? Why when L is confronting Light on the TV can we see L behind a computer talking into a microphone? Why after Light no longer claims ownership of the Death Note and Ryuk goes off to carry out some part of the plan do we get to see Light helping L track down the new Kira?

This release is a perfect example of how people sometimes only see $$$$ signs everywhere they look. What’s big right now? Well the kids are going crazy over “Death Note” but unfortunately the series has come to an end. Hmmmmm what to do? I know let’s cut up what we already have, call it new, and sell it to them for $24.98.

Don’t fall for it people. I promise the few little new things they have added are not worth that cost.

SPOILER BELOW (If you have already watched all the animes or the movies then you know it & it is safe to read)

Note: The only reason that this release is not getting a 0.00 grade is that they actually bothered to put some bonus features on here including the Japanese promos. Now at least that is something new. But it is getting an F because how dare they make me witness L die yet again for no good reason.

Wellll I don't know It looked pretty good but why does die again the first I didn't
like sure as hell didn't like the second as a matter of fact I didn't like of the 1st &
2nd death note endings. I like Light AS A FRIEND NOT as a lover he did some pretty cool thing in the series not so cool in the people acters but last one was ok or good I hope they make one when & were he doesn't die but lives at the end of it but you're kinda right but I do like Light more then L I do repeat NOT like lovers. And L had to die or else he would catch him plus if you look the world were in I say we need a KIRA but that would never happen. So my grade
is a C+ or B

Someone told me that the

Someone told me that the Shinigami that goes to see Ryuk in this is really Light. Please...please tell me they were wrong...because if so that shatters all the logic they laid out in the show before and...I will lose all respect for the creators. I really don't want it to be true, but at this point, I really wouldn't doubt that they would do it.

Please...please tell me they are wrong.

No, Light is not the

No, Light is not the shinigami that comes to Ryuk. If he is then this story makes even less sense because Light should already know what happened. I can't believe that others have graded this a B. It is shocking. If you have watched the series then you have already seen everything with the exception of the new scene of how L and Light meet and to me it is worse than the original meeting. Granted Death Note is a great show; but just because the story is good doesn't mean it is worth spending money on time and time again because they have chopped it up some new way. The DVD truthfully deserves an F because they are using fans loyalty to make more money.
