In Pinette has also worked in Broadway, most notably as Edna Turnblad in the musical "Hairspray"
The fattest comedian this side of Ralphie May now has a new comedy special and its aptly named: Still Hungry.
If that doesn't tell you what to expect from this special, then I don't know what will. Pinette, who has been a comedian since the late 80's, has always been a moderately enjoyable comedian to me. I have seen a couple of his shows and they range from hysterical to just meh. This one falls pretty much in the middle.
The entertainment value is rather sporadic. For every joke or story that'll crack me up, there will be another that won't. But fourtanetly, His humor is so rapid fire, he won't sit on one joke or story for too long.
But if you want to know whether or not you find this funny, simply ask yourself if you think fat jokes are funny. Because that makes up about 90% of the humor here. Pinette loves to rant about about restaurants being slow or dumb customers preventing him from eating. While I do enjoy the humor, I will say that Pinette tends to rely on that humor too often. It would be nice if he could mix up the material more often.
But nevertheless, Pinette has an energry that is quite enjoyable and enough solid material to keep me engaged for the 90 minutes.
I love I'm Starvin'. It was my first experience with Pinette outside of an ill fated guilty pleasure I have with a drinking game film titled Simon Sez starring Dennis Rodman and Dane Cook. Yeah, his jokes tend to hang on his appearance but a guy that can laugh at himself is always a plus in my book. He's a pretty solid storyteller as well. Eventually I'll get around to this. Thanks for the review.
