Show: Legend Of The Seeker Season/Volume: The Complete First Season Genre: Action/Adventure, Comedy, Sci-Fi/Fantasy Starring: Craig Horner, Bridget Regan, Bruce Spence, Craig Parker Studio: ABC Studios Runtime: 946 minutes Release Date: October 13, 2009 Format: DVD Discs: 5 Rating: () Grade: B+ Richard’s world is turned upside-down when he tries to save a beautiful woman and in turn discovers that he is actually the prophesied Seeker. The woman he was trying to save is a Confessor named Kahlan who has sworn her life to protect him on his mission. Rounding out the group is Zeddicus a great and powerful wizard that has been watching over Richard as he grew up. The Seeker’s mission will not be easy as he is responsible for bringing down Darken Rahl the evil lord that rules through fear and has the land in ruins. The set up is that similar to “Hercules”. You have a group on a quest in a world of fantasy, magic & creatures of legends, while on their main mission they stop along the way to help out others that are in need. However I feel like “Legend Of The Seeker” is a much stronger show. The acting is better, the effects while not movie caliber look pretty good, and there just seems to be a higher production value to the whole thing. The fighting is choreographed well and the actors are trained so it moves smoothly. The stories have a nice mix of magic, comedy, romance, action, and good vs. evil. There is chemistry between Richard and Kahlan helping you feel for the characters that are unable to ever truly show their love. And if it matters to you both actors serve as nice eye candy (with plenty of shirt off opportunities for Richard and low cut dresses for Kahlan). Truthfully this show was much better than I was expecting and very entertaining at that. I'm not sure where the show can go from how it ended the first season; but I am looking forward to finding out. You are also given commentary on select episodes, deleted scenes, a behind the scenes feature, and an interview with Terry Goodkind. |
