Four gymnasts work to make the Nationals and balance what little social life they can muster up amongst the rules and regulations of their discipline, not to mention the stress put on them by their coach, parents, and one another.

What can I say about Make It Or Break It? ABC Family has been cornering the market on teen drama’s and this show is no exception. You’ve got teen girls backstabbing, falling in love, and cornering the relevant teen speak of the hour complete with a commercial soundtrack and almost unbelievable dialogue. Its not a terrible show but the entire concept is just everything we’ve seen before with gymnastics tossed in the mix. Young girls should eat this up and some adults whose weekly schedule used to or still includes shows like Life of An American Teen, reruns of Gilmore Girls, Roswell, or any majority of the shows that run on ABC Family.

What did I like about the show? Like any of these miniature soap opera’s the writing does well to include cliff hangers in every episode and by the sheer force of making some characters absolutely unlikable you find yourself rooting for other characters. This of course requires you to look past the incredible stretch that is the dialogue in the show half the time and some of the very cheesy moments that occur (ie; the girls fending for themselves with back flips and cartwheels against some thugs at a gas station). If you can look past the cliché that is the writing and get into what little gymnastics competition there is in the show you’ll be alright. As always though when you think ABC Family you might not want to take that Family bit to seriously. This is a return to the PG rating of the 1980’s in terms of suggestion and not even the inclusion of family friendly Candice Cameron Bure’s casting can help you there. Fair warning.

The show has been picked up for a further 10 episodes so no worries about getting vested only to find yourself without conclusion. Special features include Deleted Scenes and a Making It featurette that shows how some of the actress in the show got ready for their parts. As for the extended episode title this includes an extended finale episode. Enjoy.
