Humans and monsters live side by side in a reborn Japan and it is up to the Mobile Shinsengumi team to keep things in order by defending people from the outlawed and unlicensed beasts that roam the city. Unfortunately for them, they have run into money problems and are looking to go under. That’s when Ryuunosuke comes to the rescue as the new head of the house. Still, with every mission they get, it seems that something always goes wrong and they end up in more debt than when they began.

 

Like many of the animes I’ve seen, this one is filled with weird and random quirks that really don’t make any sense. Ryuunosuke travels with a monster companion, a giant/fat cat, who always seems to be ready for that next meal. Here’s a funny idea. Try to count the number of times ‘meow’ is said in an episode as that seems to be the favorite word of the show. Everyone says it, not just the cat.

 

Some strange things happen about halfway through the series, which is only 13 episodes by the way, but I’ll leave that for you to find out for yourself. Personally, I found Moeyo Ken to be rather dull and repetitive. There really isn’t much depth to any of the characters and it wasn’t all that funny either, even when it was trying to be.
