Show: My Bride is a Mermaid Season/Volume: Season 1 Part 2 Genre: Anime Starring: Todd Haberkorn, Juli Erickson, Christopher R. Sabat Studio: Funimation Runtime: 300 minutes Release Date: September 7, 2010 Format: DVD Discs: 2 Rating: ( )Grade: D I was never a big fan of the first part of My Bride is a Mermaid. In fact, I had wondered what would happen if I watched the rest of the season in my review. Well, now I have and I can safely say it doesn't get any better. Nagasumi and his mermaid bride Sun are becoming ever closer with each episode and while her father still doesn't approve of their relationship, he has let off some steam and calmed down. Of course, that doesn't mean there aren't going to be any distraction between the two. No, those are still plentiful and just as annoying as before. I will admit that Sun doesn't say her ridiculous speech about honor among mermaids as much as she did in the first half of the season and that makes Part 2 much more bareable. Still, it's much of the same childish and annoying antics as before. Everything is overexaturated. You can't really get attached to any of the characters. By the end of it, I had no interest of watching any more...ever. Overall My Bride is a Mermaid Part 2 has improved but just by a little, which isn't saying much to begin with. If you're in to sappy anime romantic comedies written for a five year old then yeah, you might like it but for most of you out there, I would stay clear of this one. Some things get better with time; this is not one of them. |
