Show: The Price Is Right Season/Volume: The Best Of Genre: Game Show Starring: Bob Barker Studio: Mill Creek Entertainment Runtime: 930 minutes Release Date: February 2, 2010 Format: DVD Discs: 4 Rating: () Grade: D+ Bonus Features Photo Gallery I love “The Price Is Right”. If it is on TV it just sucks me right in, more so when Bob Barker was hosting; but still just the off chance that there might be Plinko and I’m there. As far as calling this “The Best Of” I am not sure all fans will agree on all of them but there are some pretty big & pivotal episodes they did include. First off you have 4 episodes hosted by Bill Cullen. Then there are 3 episodes from Bob’s first week, the first one hour episode, and Bob’s last week on “The Price Is Right”. All the other episodes occur in 72-75. There are none from the 80’s or 90’s which I found odd. Perhaps this is just testing the waters before releasing a second volume with more great episodes of “The Price Is Right”. The quality is what you would expect as there seems to be nothing done to the original footage in way of cleaning it up. I wanted more out of the bonus features. All you get is a photo gallery; but it would have been nice to maybe have a montage of bloopers, games that didn’t work, or even stats. Have all 6 contestants ever spun $1.00 if not how many did in one show? What game has the highest win ratio? Which one has the lowest? There are so many things that could have been added but weren’t. Maybe if this sells well and they do a 2nd volume those will be things to look forward too. The low grade is because this set was released in 2008, the cover has been changed just a tiny bit. Pointless re-release. If you love "The Price Is Right" a good collection to pick up though. You may find a better deal on the 2008 verision though as it has been out longer. |
