Show: Caprica Genre: Action/Adventure, Drama, Sci-Fi/Fantasy Starring: Eric Stoltz, Polly Walker, Magda Apanowicz, Genevieve Buechner, Scott Porter, Paula Malcomson, Esai Morales, Alessandra Torrsesani, Saha Roiz, Brian Markinson, Sina Najafi, Hiro Kanagawa Network: SyFy Airdate/Time: January 22, 2010 9:00pm Rating: () Grade: B For those that don't know, Caprica originally started out as a made-for-TV movie that served as a prequel to the hugely popular Battlestar Galactica series on SyFy Channel. Never intended as a full on series itself, it now ventures into the territory with the serial of the same name. SyFy wll air a recut version of the movie as the premiere episode but they did not have the recut version available to press to go with episodes 2 and 3. The show is actually relatively engrossing. To be fair, I was never a big fan of BSG (not saying I didn't like it, I just didn't watch it much) so my opinion may not be that of a hardcore fan. As a fan of sci fi myself, I enjoyed the few episodes I saw in an 'Outer Limits' kind of way (of which I am a huge fan). The show follows a tragedy that takes two daughters away from two fathers and leads one of them, Daniel Graystone (played by Eric Stoltz) to place his daughter's "brain" inside a robot, known in the future as a Cylon, unknowingly, creating a technology that will eventually lead to his own world's end. But, until that end, you get to witness all of the drama and conflict that lead to the tumultuous finale. The show, at least in it's first few episodes, is intriguing and engrossing. It left me wanting more and will lead me to finally pickup my Battlestar Galactica box set and start watching. After all, I don't want to be the only one not knowing where this is all leading. I haven't seen BSG but I have heard good things about it. Caprica looks great and I am definitely going to add it to the few shows I watch regularly.
