The Betrayed opens with a woman and her son driving in the rain when their car is smashed from behind.  A police officer later finds the damaged car but not the woman and son.  W

How this movie got made is beyond me.  The first movie was a critical drubbing, not to mention a lackluster performer at the box office.  Apparently, Steve Martin still has a bit of pull.
