The first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is here, and it shows off a new adversary Sonic and the crew must face; the villainous Shadow voiced by none other than Keanu Reeves. The third film in the Sonic franchise hits theaters on December 20, 2024.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 sees Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles team up to take on this terrifying new foe, although their combined efforts might not even be enough to defeat Shadow. As you can watch in the trailer below, this forces them to turn to Dr. Robotnik for help. Not only does Jim Carrey return for the role, but he pulls double duty this time around portraying Professor Gerald Robotnik, Dr. Robotnik’s grandfather.
The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has been quite successful for SEGA and Paramount Pictures, having grossed over $700 million across its two films so far in addition to creating the spin-off series Knuckles for Paramount+. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 sees the return of franchise director Jeff Fowler along with Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, and Lee Majdoub. Joining Keanu Reeves are newcomers Alyla Browne and Krysten Ritter.
