I'm not exactly sure what to think of this movie, even after giving it a few days to settle. It is certainly too dark for kids but not quite "grown-up" enough for adults. It is a PG-13 CGI animated movie that struggles to find an audience.
QUALITY:
Great. The picture is crisp and the sound is clear.
BONUS FEATURES:
The original short, which is also pretty impressive as an independently animated movie, featurettes, deleted scenes, commentary.
The bonus features aren't interesting enough to really matter, aside from the silent-movie-esque short that inspired the movie. 9 is a beautiful movie with great scenery and original animation. The story is dark and deep, dealing with post-humanity and the dooming end of a new manufactured species. Though dark, the movie doesn't quite stay interesting enough to keep all adult's attention and certainly deals with far too many dire situations to appeal (and not terrify) kids.
