HBO has picked up the comedy series Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, to series, the cable network confirmed Saturday. The former Seinfeld alum will play former Sen. Selina Meyer, whose image of being vice president is shattered once she lands in office. The comedy, which was written by Armando Iannucci -- who also serves as director and executive producer -- is set in Washington, D.C., co-stars Anna Chlumsky (Lights Out) and Tony Hale (Arrested Development). Chris Godsick and New York Magazine’s Frank Rich also will executive produce the series, which serves as Louis-Dreyfus’ return to series television following her Emmy-winning turn in CBS’ The New Adventures of Old Christine. |
