The Comedy Central animated series Drawn Together was cancelled back in 2008 but that didn't stop creators Dave Jeser and Matt Silverstein from making a movie. The original cast is back and they are more volatile than ever. While the DVD is available everywhere, the Blu-ray version is exclusive to Best Buy for some reason. Question is, is it worth it?

The film has the cast finding out that the show has been cancelled and that they are all a bunch of fakes. In their quest to get their timeslot back from the Suck My Taint Show, they must escape the eye of the network's Intelligent Smart Robot Aimation Eraser Lady (ISRAEL). Being a film and not on cable TV, it pushes the boundaries of what can be done in animation. Sex, nudity, and over the top language are all present in massive quantities. If you're easily offended, now would be a good time to look for something else to watch.

It looks good. The picture is crisp and the animations are clean. Then there are some scenes presented in 3D. That's where the problems lie. For one thing, they decided not to include any 3D glasses, instead providing you instructions on how to make your own! It's also the cheap red/blue 3D technology, not the high quality kind we're used to these days. Thankfully I had an extra pair lying around and was able to watch it in "3D." Honestly, there wasn't anything 3D about it. It just looked like a big blob of red and blue color; an absolute waste of time and technology. Thankfully there were only two scenes in 3D, another reason to question why it was used in the first place.

Drawn Together True Confessionals, Drawn Together: The Legacy, Anatomy of an Animated Sex Scene, Re-Animating Drawn, Together: From the Small Screen to the Slightly Bigger Screen, D.I.Y. 3D Glasses Additional Scenes: Deleted Scenes, Drawn Together Minisodes, Audio Commentary with Matt Silverstein, Dave Jeser, Jordan Young & Kurt Vanzo.

There's actually a good amount of bonus content for the film. Unfortunately, quantity does not equal quality. It's also the same stuff you can get on the standard DVD as well. I'm actually not sure why there is even a Blu-ray to begin with. Animation can be tricky when it comes to Blu-rays and the Drawn Together Movie doesn't do anything that the regular DVD can't.

The movie itself isn't even that good, going for shock value rather than actual entertainment. There are one or two funny scenes but that's about it. This is one show that was cancelled for good reason. Let's hope it stays that way.
