Dwayne Johnson just dropped the news on that the sequel to last year's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will be released on December 13, 2019. "I hold JUMANJI very close to my heart and I’m beyond grateful you made our movie into the global juggernaut it became," he said on Instagram. "Can’t wait for you to see what our new adventure has in store for all of you around the world as Christmas comes early."
The sequel will be following suite to Welcome to the Jungle, which opened on December 20, 2017 and went on to gross $961.7 million worldwide. The end of 2019 is still a ways off. Currently the only other film scheduled to release that week is an Untitled Blumhouse film, while Star Wars Episode IX will be releasing the following week on December 20. That shouldn't pose a problem since The Last Jedi also went toe-to-toe with Welcome to the Jungle.
No other details about the Jumanji sequel have been given but it is expected that Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan will all be returning.
