"666 Park Avenue" is a new show on ABC that is set to debut on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 10pm. The show revolves around the historic Drake Hotel in New York City. Jane (Rachel Taylor) and Henry (Dave Annable) are a young couple applying to be resident managers for the Drake Hotel, but they have no idea what they are getting themselves into. The hotels owners, Gavin (Terry O' Quinn) and Olivia (Vanessa Williams) Doran, as well as the hotel itself, hold lots of secrets and mysteries that no one can explain. What kind of secrets? You are going to have to watch the show to find out. However, Shakefire had the chance to watch the full pilot and we were allowed to hint about what to expect inside "666 Park Ave."
I can honestly say this is unlike any other show I have ever seen on ABC because I would expect this kind of show on a sci-fi channel instead.
From beginning to end, the "666 Park Avenue" pilot episode was filled with suspense, creepiness, and intrigue. The music added a lot to the mood and feel of the show and the special effects and camera work were up to par of modern day movies. The all-star cast works well together and most of the dialogue was surprisingly good, with the occasional cheesy line. I also loved the whole premise for the show and did not think it was as scary as "American Horror Story," but it still had its spooky moments. After watching the pilot episode, I have an idea of what's going on, but the show left me hanging enough to want to see the next couple episodes to find out what happens next.
I was curious about the show when I saw the previews, but jumped at the chance when I found out the pilot episode was up for review. I was surprised at how well written the show was and am now hooked. I just hope the future episodes are as good as the pilot. I highly recommend checking out this show and seeing if you enjoy it or get as hooked to it as I am. For those reasons, I am giving this episode an "A."
