Carmen Lundy is no stranger to the jazz community, having previously released 13 albums that cover the entire spectrum of the genre. Soul to Soul is her latest album and features some of the best talent from the industry. It’s a mix of contemporary jazz and soul that creates a  unique blend of heartfelt music.

The melodies of Soul to Soul are very calming as the entire album flows smoothly from one track to the next. From soft piano touches to upbeat drums, there’s a good variety in the instruments featured in each song.

As far as the vocals go, Carmen Lundy has quite the ranged voice. She’s able to hit both the high and low notes, although I personally prefer her deeper tones. There are times where she overdoes the lyrics, resonating between the highs and lows too frequently and over pronouncing each syllable or carrying a note for far too long. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it’s quite noticeable.

That being said, Soul to Soul is a down-to-Earth album that features some great jazz music to chill to. It’s a great album to just put on to relax and go about your daily business.
