Echo Bloom is a country band that has been together since 2008. The band’s influences include Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. They also say they drew most of their inspiration while on a trip to Germany. Their album, “Blue,” was released on May 14, 2013. They are an interesting and unconventional country band that is anything but normal.
Echo Bloom has great melodies and very good instrumentals, but are lacking in other areas. The vocals are overly raspy and hard to understand making the lyrics a bit difficult to understand. The vocals are different, but need more clarity and should not sound so forced. However, they were a good variety of songs on this album, but it was not in any way a normal country album. With all these parts working and not working together, it actually made “Blue” feel like an in-cohesive album with no real theme that ended up confusing me more than anything else. For those reasons, I am giving this album a “D+.”
