Galaxy Quest: Deluxe Edition

Galaxy Quest

On DVD:
Tuesday, May 12, 2009
Running Time:
1 Hour, 44 Minutes

I’m not embarrassed to admit it, I find this movie hilarious. Sure it’s not that great of a movie; but it’s funny, entertaining, and has a lot of great actors in it. If you haven’t seen check your TV guide because I’m sure you will find it playing at some random hour on the weekend.

Now more than likely you have seen this movie. It has been released previously on DVD in 1999. The only thing that that release had that this new one doesn’t is cast & filmmakers’ bios and production notes. It also deleted scenes, the audio track, and one of the featurettes. This new release features many other featurettes though. I was impressed with the behind the scenes footage, past interviews, and new interviews that they had. And everyone was a part of it Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Justin Long, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, and more. I would actually say that this is worth the upgrade doesn’t hurt that it is also digitally re-mastered.

Bonus Features:

“Historical Documents: The Story Of Galaxy Quest” –Talking to the cast and crew about the movie with some behind the scene shots (new & original interviews)

“Never Give Up, Never Surrender: The Intrepid Crew Of The NSEA Protector” – Interviews with cast & crew about the characters in the movie (new & original interviews)

“By Grabthar’s Hammer, What Amazing Effects” – A look at the effects, make-up, and monsters with behind the scenes footage (new & original interviews)

“Alien School: Creating The Thermian Race” – A look at the Thermians, and how their voices & their movements came to be (new & original interviews)

“Actors In Space” – Talk about the inspiration for the actors’ personalities, being known for one job only, how they are off camera, & how hard it is when a movie or show comes to an end (new & original interviews)

“Sigourney Weaver Raps” – Yeah it is exactly what the title is complete with video and other cast members helping out

Deleted Scenes (8 total)

“Thermian Audio Track” – The whole movie has the Thermian noises in place of the actual lines
