The Sixxis seem to be ready to give conquering the world a go as they release their self titled album filled with original songs, one of them in both English and Russian, a few live songs, as well as a DVD featuring three of the live songs. Despite several band rotations and genre swaps The Sixxis have kept it steady and are now ready to show the world what they’ve got.

My overall feel towards the album was a bit shaky. The music is very dramatic, very much a progressive rock feel the likes of Rush but with the passionate vocal style of Muse. Harmonies are great as the band hits the end of a verse and fold out in unity as one, though it does feel dated at times. I was reminded somewhat of those cheesy 80’s rock bands, especially with the choice of breakdowns and power chord riffs. At times it just felt a bit generic to me, but inspiration comes from all ages.

The album is decent, the band knowledgeable when it comes to their likes and the way in which they manifest their influences with their original sound, the album just wasn’t for me. I did somewhat enjoy the live tracks and She Only was by far the stand out track on the album. Be sure to check them out on the links provided and see and hear them for yourselves. As always final judgment is yours. Enjoy.
